Only 1 in 1000 Can Figure Out The Solution Of This Viral Math Problem

This mathematical problem has gone viral on the internet. They say only 1 in 1000 can solve it. Can you?

The brain teaser posted on Brain Dare gives everybody a rough ride. If you weren’t good at math in high school, you might not get the answer right.

Basically, you have to figure out the hidden algorithm in order to solve the puzzle.

What is the missing number? Find out the answer below:

To figure out the solution to the fourth equation, you have to find out the method for the previous three and then apply the same principle.

This puzzle has sparked a debate on the internet, people arguing it has two solutions.

1.Most of the people will begin by adding 1 + 4 to reach the answer 5. Then they will add 2 + 5 to the sum of 5 to get an answer of 12. Most of the users will use the same process in the next line, adding 3 + 6 to get 9, then add nine to the sum in the equation above (12) to reach the figure 21.

In the last stage, they will add 8 + 11 to get 19, before adding it to the sum of the previous line (21) to get 40.

2. According to Brain Dare however, there’s only one correct answer. The solution is 96. Here’s how they they did it.

Their solution involves multiplication. First, you multiply the first number by the second number. Then, you simply add the product of those two numbers to the first number.

1 + (1 x 4) = 5
2 + (2 x 5) = 12
3 + (3 x 6) = 21
8 + (8 x 11) = 96
