4 Things To Remember When Your Life Falls Apart

When your life falls apart and it becomes a black hole, it’s normal to despair. But the more you despair, the harder it is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go on. Here are some things you can do to ease your pain and start living again.

No matter what the reasons why your life unraveled as a bad pair of pantyhose are, you need to remember the following:

1. Your feelings are yours to feel

You are entitled to every emotion that you feel, no matter how dark or embarrassing. Don’t shy away from feeling them all, negative and positive, since they are a part of yourself. Don’t suppress them, don’t even try to understand them, just allow them to tell you something about yourself. Maybe just don’t act on them yet.

2. Don’t isolate yourself

When we feel down, we don’t want people to see us in this state. We cut our connections to the world, to the people that care about us. And while being alone with your own feelings and thoughts can be a good thing, isolating yourself for too long can only make things worse. Let people in, talk with them and let them help you.

3. Go out

Not in clubs or to bars. In nature. Nature can calm your thoughts, breathe life into your body again and make you realize that there’s decay and rebirth everywhere around you. Take a walk, lean against a tree, watch a lake ripple under the touch of the wind.

4. Remember that this too shall pass

When our despair becomes unbearable or overwhelming, the only thing we can do is to just breath and wait for it to pass. Try to remember that your life has been in shambles before and you’ve managed to survive it. Things may be bad right now, but it’s only your mind that tells you that they will be like this forever. They won’t. Deep down, you know they won’t.
