Demisexuality stands between sexuality and asexuality. A demisexual person cannot experience sexual attraction unless they form an emotional connection first. In other words, if they don’t have strong feelings about someone, they won’t engage in any sexual activity. Though the term refers to being “halfway between” sexual and asexual, it doesn’t mean that demisexuals have an incomplete or half-sexuality, they only lack sexual attraction until a close bond is built.
Take a look at some signs which show that you might be a demisexual:
1. You develop a friendship first
You wouldn’t start a relationship before establishing a strong bond first. Your ideal partner must primarily be your friend. There ought to be a strong connection before initiating anything romantic.
2. Your idea of sex goes beyond the physical
You think of sex as an escapade into another dimension, where the lovers are powerfully connected. Only when you reach that deeper level of intimacy will you feel the need to have sex. Intercourse is merely the result of such a beautiful connection and never the other way around.
3. You’d rather cuddle than make love
You yearn for that deep closeness between two people who can share an intimate moment without sexual intercourse. Just being next to your loved one, cuddling and warming your bodies is enough for you.
4. You’re somewhat a sapiosexual
Sapiosexuals are drawn to intelligence, the physical takes second place. Looks are not important for you, you find arousal in personality. If it’s impossible to connect emotionally or strike an honest conversation, you’ll most likely not feel any attraction.
5. You loathe one-night stands
You simply cannot comprehend how people engage in sexual activities without feelings. Without even getting to know each other first, let alone establishing a relationship. The thought of something so trivial almost makes you sick.
6. You’re not into flirting
Flirting is definitely not your thing as you only develop meaningful relationships. You never go out looking for potential partners.
