You may still not be over them, although it’s been weeks or even months. Whether you were in a relationship or you two never happened, the process takes time. Especially if you thought you were really right for each other. But with some patience from your part, you can overcome what seems like an insurmountable obstacle.
If you’re still struggling, here are 5 ways that will help you move on and feel at peace:
1. Learn to let go
Releasing any thoughts or hopes you have about this person will clear your head and lift the weight off your chest. Nobody says it’s easy, but it’s achievable if you consciously work at this. If you really think there’s no chance to be with them, then moving on is the best option.
2. Try to not think of them
This often happens subconsciously. Maybe you’ve already made the decision to stop daydreaming about “what if’s”, but the thoughts keep coming back. Refrain from talking to other people about them but at the same time allow yourself to grieve. Repressing your emotions will only make it worse and keep them coming back in an uglier form.
3. Keep yourself busy
Again, this doesn’t mean you have to stop feeling anything at all. But dedicating yourself to pleasing activities will surely keep this person away from your thoughts. And that’s exactly what we want, right?
4. Meet someone new
A new crush could do the trick so focus on meeting new people. You never know when you could click with someone whose passions are the same. Try to keep an open mind and enjoy the process of finding out about other people’s stories. Don’t get into a relationship with them unless you really feel ready.
5. See the awesome side of being single
On the other hand, you can focus more on how cool it is to be single – no heartache, no fights. Plus, you get to go out with whomever you want and basically put your needs and wants first. What’s not to like about being by yourself for a while?
When you can’t make them fall in love with you, you can always choose to love yourself more. Please share this!
