The North Ridgeville Police Department was taken aback by a phone call received early in the morning. A man reported he was being followed home by a pig and did not know what to do or how to react in this unusual situation.

The policemen were almost positive the man was under the influence of alcohol and couldn’t possibly be telling the truth. To their surprise, the patrol officer found a very sober male traveling on foot, accompanied indeed by a pig.

“The pig was nudging the person and wanted to be petted,” Operations Officer Capt. Marti Garrow told NPR.

Looks like all the pig ever wanted was to receive some affection and be petted. How cute is that?

The pig did not go down easy, an officer had to chase him a little before placing him into the cruiser. The pig was reunited with its owner about three hours later. It was named Zoey and weighed 50 pounds.

The funny episode was recounted in a Facebook post that has been shared nearly 15,000 times.

“Also, we will mention the irony of the pig in a police car now so that anyone that thinks they’re funny is actually unoriginal and trying too hard,” the police said on social media.
