Sometimes we feel stuck. Sometimes we feel that our dreams are just that, dreams. That the murky present has nothing to do with the future we envisioned for ourselves. What do we do then?
When you work a minimum wage job and at the end of the day you don’t have the energy to do the dishes, your dreams seem too far away to even consider them. But you know you have to keep going. Here are some tips that might help you focus on your long term plans.

1. Keep your goal in mind and in the field of vision
Make sure you know exactly what you want to accomplish in the future. Make yourself you have a visual reminder of it (write it down, find a suggestive photo or illustration). Put it where you can see it every day.
2. Don’t forget that your actions sustain your goal
Whenever you take a small step towards your goal, don’t forget to remind yourself why you do what you do. Consider it a small price you have to pay in order to gain the prize you decided you want for yourself.
3. Get help
The best thing you can do is find someone else to team up with to accomplish your goal. This may mean a partner, if your goal is something that requires collaboration. Or it can mean finding someone with a similar goal to push you through the moments when you feel discouraged.
4. Remember that everybody goes through this
Even the most successful people had to conquer their fears and to work hard. OK, there are people who had everything handed to them on a silver plate, but these are not the kind of people you want to focus on. The real heroes of your life felt at some point exactly how you feel right now.
