Why Are We So Afraid Of Change?

There are some problems we all face when we need to make life changes. Sometimes we tend to let our fears get the best of us, especially when we’re dealing with the unknown.

It is rather sad however to have to live with your fears, always thinking “what if”. When we feel paralyzed with fear, it’s important to address some issues. Once we become more aware of what’s going on, we can move on and reach our full potential.

Here are some of the problems we battle with when we resist change:

1. Fear of the unknown

This is probably one of the biggest fear we have to deal with in our lives, every step of the way. Our brains are really hardwired to focus on familiar patterns. This has helped us over time be safe, but it’s also a huge factor that keeps us from living life to the fullest.

2. Self-doubt

There’s probably not a single person on this planet who hasn’t dealt with the agony of self-doubt or low self-esteem at some point. Whenever we try to do something for the first time, we can’t help wondering: what if we fail? And that’s a really scary thought.

Because we don’t have a crystal ball where we can see our future, we’ll have to take that leap and make the most of whatever happens.

3. Agonize over decisions

4. Forget that we always have other options

The fear of change can make us prisoners of our comfort zones. And while in that very safe zone, we tend to forget there are other options. And it’s sad because this is how we miss great opportunities to grow and lead a more meaningful life.
