The American artist shared his sobriety coin on social media with the caption: “Celebrated my 10 years yesterday”.

Eminem has been sober for 10 years now. He shared the picture of his sobriety coin, something that is given to Alcoholics Anonymous or other 12 step programs after being fully recovered or at some other crucial points in the rehabilitation process.

The rapper has struggled with drug abuse throughout his career, stating back in 2013 that he thought being hooked on Valium, Vicodin and Xanax didn’t mean he was actually a drug addict. In another interview, he talked about the prescription drug Ambien, which had such damaging effects on his health that caused him to lose entire pieces of his memory and made him suffer from writer’s block for years to come.

In 2007 Eminem was on the brink of death after a methadone overdose.

“The doctors told me I’d done the equivalent of four bags of heroin. They said I was about two hours from dying”, he said to NME in 2011.

At the height of his addiction, the rapper revealed he was taking up to 60 Valium and 30 Vicodin pills a day. In 2013, he talked about his fight with dependence in the documentary ‘How To Make Money Selling Drugs’.

Fans were delighted at hearing the big news, congratulated the artist for staying sober and encouraged him to keep up the good work.
